post-title

It's all about taking people's potential and maximising it by introducing changes in cognitive behaviour, relationships and/or lifestyle, says Richard.

Richard Sutton, a health and performance educator and consultant who is considered to be one of the foremost experts in his field, will deliver the keynote speech at the inaugural HR Indaba, opening the event. Richard consults with leading companies on stress resilience, employee engagement and productivity, and has worked with top-tier athletes including five tennis players who've been ranked number one in the world, seven who have been in the top five, and several Olympic medalists from all over the world.

In his keynote address, he will tell attendees how he helped champions like Kevin Anderson, Martina Navratilova and Ryk Neethling deal with pressure and stress.  Those at the Indaba will learn how they help themselves and their teams capitalise on innate potential by exploring the fundamentals of building resilience, embracing stress and making the most of your latent ability.

In his book The Stress Code: From Surviving to Thriving: A Scientific Model for Stress Resilience, Richard talks about talk about why a crisis is the best way to bring out the best of one’s abilities. He explains that, while chronic stress invariably has an adverse effect on one's physical and mental health, short intervals of stress can offer tremendous potential to grow, break personal barriers and excel.

Having worked with Kevin Anderson - who last year made the US Open final and whose recent performances at Wimbledon made him the first South African to reach the men's final - Richard will share lessons on how Kevin's injury crisis 18 months ago actually led to him turning his career around towards becoming now the fifth-best player in the world.

Richard's reputation as a problem solver within the context of overcoming chronic pain and reaching one’s overall potential first emerged in professional sport. He is also a highly respected educator and presents postgraduate Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) accredited courses at a number of universities and congresses.

The HR Indaba will showcase the best of what the HR profession has to offer, both in terms of thought leadership, and presence of service providers, giving HR professionals an opportunity to learn everything they need to know about the latest HR technology, HR strategy, company culture, labour laws, recruitment, employee engagement and HR leadership. It will also bring together thousands of colleagues, suppliers, platforms, universities, specialists, recruitment agencies, CHROs and thought leaders.
