The professional body offers an alternative route to qualifying as an accountant, among other things.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has signed up as a partner the inaugural HR Indaba, which will be hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre on 3 and4 October 2018. The ACCA offers business-relevant, first-choice, qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition, who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management.

Established in 1904, it is one of the world’s foremost professional bodies, with a global network 208,000 members and 503,000 students across 179 countries. ACCA SA has accredited the B Com degrees of 14 universities and 13 private higher education institutions in South Africa. Further to that, the qualifications of 12 professional institutes have been assessed for exemption purposes. Students from accredited institutions receive up to nine exemptions and are only required to complete five papers for the ACCA Professional qualification.

The ACCA has its own qualification, which can serve an alternative but equivalent route to the traditional academic route into the accountancy profession, with a number of delivery options available, including self-paced learning, self-study, and part-time classes, with various entry and exit points. This route allows new entrants from matriculant-level and well-seasoned professionals to obtain business-relevant, internationally recognised accounting qualifications, which embrace global best practices. The ACCA qualification is designed to be relevant across sectors and geographies and equipping members with the skills they need to thrive now and in the future.

The ACCA supports members throughout their careers. Through a network of 83 offices, their global infrastructure means that exams are delivered and supported at a local level, benefiting stakeholders, wherever they are based.

As a partner, the ACCA will have an exhibition stand at the HR Indaba, which will be the largest of its kind in South Africa. It will give HR professionals an opportunity to learn everything they need to know about the latest HR technology, HR strategy, company culture, labour laws, recruitment, employee engagement and HR leadership. It will also bring together thousands of colleagues, suppliers, platforms, universities, specialists, recruitment agencies, CHROs and thought leaders.
