With over 3,000 attendees, close to 50 exhibitors and numerous knowledge-sharing sessions, the inaugural HR Indaba was arguably a resounding success. In this article, Seidor Westrocon MD Martin van Wyk talks about the company’s experience at last year’s event and what their plans are for 2019.
Seidor Westrocon offers services that allow SMEs access to mature SAP technology services that support growth and achieve operational excellence. They focus on HR, Supply Chain Management, Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing and Retail companies.
What was your overall impression of the inaugural HR Indaba?
It was well organised and professional and attracted an interesting mix of attendees. The discussion topics were relevant and provided value for the attendees and exhibitors.
What was it that convinced you to sign up for next year’s event?
We think that it is the premium event to reach our intended target audience of HR Executives and believe that we have a value proposition that may appeal to them.

How did HR professionals at the Indaba respond to your service?
We met with many recruiting agencies and understood the difficulties of talent acquisition and management in South Africa without a proper set of information technology tools. Last year, we were still testing the market but did get some interest but this time around we will have more specific offerings and value propositions.
What are Seidor Westrocon’s strategic objectives and goals for the coming year?
We hope to share the amazing product suite that SAP offers as a Cloud Solution (such as Success Factors) to manage the entire employee life cycle from recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation management, succession planning and all data related to it.
We have worked on some packaged solutions that have a fixed price and fixed scope of implementation to take the risk out of implementing the solutions and give customers peace of mind.
