Vanisha Balgobind, executive head of HR at Exxaro Resources, has been nominated for the CHRO Awards. She is a registered industrial psychologist with 18 years’ experience in the mining industry. Her journey began when she was appointed as an HR assistant at Mondi Kraft in Richards bay in 1996 and went on to join the (then) Iscor Mining in 1997 as an HR trainee.  She was further employed at Kumba Resources as an HR consultant and talent management consultant between 1998 and 2006.

Exxaro Resources Limited was created in November 2006 when Kumba Resources Limited unbundled and Kumba’s coal and other assets merged with Eyesizwe Coal. The company has since grown to become one of the largest and foremost black-empowered coal and heavy mineral companies in South Africa, with other business interests around the world in Europe, the United States of America, and Australia. Their asset portfolio includes coal operations and investments in iron ore, pigment manufacturing, renewable energy (wind), and residual base metals.

The CHRO Awards ceremony will be held on 26 November 2020 at Inanda Club in Johannesburg. It will give HR directors and CHROs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions alike an opportunity to be recognised and rewarded for their exceptional performance and leadership.
