Precious Murena appointed as CEO of Lafarge Zimbabwe

Lafarge Zimbabwe's new CEO has 15 years' experience as an HR leader.

Cement producer Lafarge group has appointed Precious Murena-Nyika as the new chief executive for Lafarge Zimbabwe. Precious takes on the new role after spending two years as the HR and communications director. She will be replacing Siame Kaulule, who had been CEO at the company for a year before taking on a new role at Lafarge’s group operations in South Africa.

Precious, who also presides over the Institute of People Management Zimbabwe, has over 15 years of experience leading teams in HR management, strategy, innovation, operations, business consulting, and communications.

Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe is a unit of dual-listed Swiss-based Lafarge Holcim and trades its shares on the Euronext and Swiss stock exchanges.

The company swung to profitability in the six months to June 2019, recording a $2.9 million (approximately R44 million  profit in the reviewed period from a $1.8 million (approximately R27 million)  loss in the same period in the prior year
