Press release: Anglo American to launch Quit Genius program to tackle smoking addiction

post-title

The Quit Genius program offers a world’s first digital clinic to tackle addiction in the workplace.

Anglo American, a leading global mining company whose products are the essential ingredients in almost every aspect of modern life, has joined forces with Quit Genius, the world’s first digital clinic for addictions to tackle addiction in the workplace.

The HR and Health teams at Anglo American have long recognised the effects of communicable and non-communicable diseases on the health of their employees and take proactive steps to support their wellbeing. This has been evident throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, with their WeCare Health Programme supporting the health and wellbeing of their 90,000 employees across the world from Australia to Chile, including offering free licenses for the Headspace app to all employees. Their health-focused plans include supporting employees to control addictions and obesity.

Supporting employees to live healthier lives
Now, Anglo American are turning their attention to addiction. Quit Genius offers a digital smoking cessation service which delivers personalised cognitive behavioural therapy via their app and psychological support from trained stop smoking advisors.

“At Anglo American, we want to support our employees to live healthy lives and we can do this by helping them to stop smoking or reduce their intake of cigarettes. We have partnered with Quit Genius because their scalable digital health solution will help us to achieve this aim across the group.” - Dr Elton Dorkin, Head of Health, Anglo American.

The service will be freely available by October this year for English-speaking employees in Anglo American’s global offices and employees in remote working sites in South Africa. The aim of this service is to support employees to be healthier and be less likely to experience the severest consequences of Coronavirus.
