Zongezile Baloyi has been nominated for the 2026 CHRO Awards for his role as executive for corporate services at the Council for Medical Schemes.
He joins a cohort of HR leaders competing across nine award categories, including the headline CHRO of the Year title.
Zongezile has led the corporate services portfolio at the Council for Medical Schemes since 2022, drawing on nearly three decades of leadership experience across the public sector. Before taking on his current role, he served as chief director for judicial education at the Office of the Chief Justice.
His career also includes positions as managing member of Alloy Divine Management Consultants, CEO of the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA), and chief director for corporate services at the National Department of Transport.
Earlier in his career, he served as a divisional HR manager at the Agricultural Research Council, regional manager at the Department of Labour, and national organiser at the National Council of Trade Unions.
Dubbed the “Oscars of HR”, the CHRO Awards continues to celebrate leaders who raise the bar for people leadership in South Africa across listed companies, large corporates and government institutions.
The 2026 nominees will be celebrated at a gala event on 24 November, where winners across multiple categories, including the CHRO of the Year title, will be announced.
