Coronations' Heidi Kornmuller was the first nominee to endure the intensive interview.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the CHRO Awards interviewing process, which kicked off on Tuesday, to take place online. Heidi Kornmuller, head of HR at Coronation Fund Managers, was the first of the 2020 CHRO Awards nominees to face questions on why she should be the CHRO Of The Year.

With non-executive director Shirley Zinn sitting on the online conference call, Heidi was asked to explain how she has been involved in driving the corporate strategy, elaborating on matters of transformation, culture, technology, learning and development and overall talent management.

Over the coming month, CHROs and HR directors nominated for the CHRO Awards will share some of their triumphs, accolades and challenges during intensive two-hour interviews.

The comprehensive and rigorous awards process is inspired by the success of the CFO Awards, which have become known as the Oscars of Finance since being launched in 2014. Given the glitz and glamour of last year's inaugural CHRO Awards, the HR profession now has an event of the calibre.

The CHRO Awards, which will be taking place on 26 November 2020 at Inanda Clubwill give HR directors and CHROs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions alike an opportunity to be recognised and rewarded for their exceptional performance and leadership.
