Patience Mushungwa has been nominated for the 2026 CHRO Awards for her role as divisional executive for human capital at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
She joins a cohort of HR leaders competing across nine award categories, including the headline CHRO of the Year title.
Patience has served as divisional executive for human capital at the IDC since 2019. Before joining the IDC, she was acting director for human capital at the University of Pretoria.
She also served as special adviser to the Minister of Public Service and Administration and was executive director for human capital and transformation at the University of Pretoria. Earlier in her career, she worked as the group executive for HR and transformation at Denel SOC.
Dubbed the “Oscars of HR”, the CHRO Awards continues to celebrate leaders who raise the bar for people leadership in South Africa across listed companies, large corporates and government institutions.
