Recruitment activity has gone up in the last three months

The finance, information technology, and business and management industries have seen the biggest increase in hiring activity.

The latest CareerJunction Employment Insights Report reveals that year-on-year, hiring activity has been increasing continuously. Recruitment activity over the past 13 months has increased by 18 percent.

CareerJunction analysed job offers advertised over the last 12 months and the following are some of the top 20 highest paying job sectors:

  • Business and Management
  • Information Technology
  • Finance
  • Architecture and Engineering

The research also looked at recruitment per location and it shows that Gauteng still
has most of the country’s vacancies.

“Just over 30 percent of job offers are in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. International work opportunities remain at 3 percent,” reads the report.

According to the report, demand for admin, office and support professionals has more than doubled in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal since 2020.

The Eastern Cape has also shown a significant increase of 81 percent in hiring activity for
admin staff since 2020.

“After a surge in recruitment activity between 2020 and 2021, demand growth for finance professionals has slowed down in the Eastern Cape. However, recruitment activity for finance professionals in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal continues to grow year-on-year,” the report reveals.
