Sana-Ullah Bray is among the 2025 CHRO Award nominees

Sana-Ullah Bray has been nominated for the 2025 CHRO Awards for his role as the group executive for human capital at Sanlam.

He joins the list of HR leaders who are among this year’s CHRO Awards contenders.

Sana-Ullah joined Sanlam Ltd & Life as group company secretary in 2011 and has since held various leadership positions, including acting head of the Sanlam Foundation as well as corporate affairs before assuming his current role as group executive for human capital. He has also chaired the Sanlam Ethics Committee for the past five years.

Prior to joining Sanlam, he held the position of group company secretary at Santam Insurance since 2004. He also worked as a senior legal advisor at the Development Bank of Southern Africa and as a legal advisor at the Independent Development Trust.

Sana-Ullah is also a Chartered Director of SA and fellow of the Institute of Directors South Africa. He also serves as a member on the council of the University of the Western Cape, where he sits on committees including human resources, and the Senior Appointments Committee of Council.

Dubbed the “Oscars of HR”, the CHRO Awards continue to honour the country’s most influential HR leaders across listed companies, large corporates and government institutions.

This year’s celebration will take place on 12 November at The Polo Room in Sandton, where nine awards will be handed out, including the headline award of the night – the CHRO of the Year title.
