Thabo Nkoane has been appointed as HR director at Komatsu Mining Corp. – Joy Global (Africa), adding to a career built across mining and industrial organisations.
He started out at AngloGold Ashanti, first as an HR officer and later as a senior HR officer. Those years were followed by a stint at Anglo Platinum as employee relations manager.
From there, Thabo stepped into senior HR manager roles at Trans Hex Group and later joined South Deep Gold Mine as HR manager. Thereafter, AngloGold Ashanti called again, this time with the scope of senior HR manager.
Then came BHP where he served as head of HR, with AEL Mining Services marking his entry into the executive tier as HR executive. He later joined Volkswagen Group South Africa as HR director and recently ran his own practice as partner and lead consultant.
His academic background includes a bachelor of arts in law and industrial psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand, an honours in industrial and organisational psychology from Unisa, and an MBA from the same institution.
