BlueSky Chief People Officer has been nominated for his experience in HR.

Themba Chakela, chief people officer at BlueSky, is the latest addition to the nominees for the 2023 CHRO Awards.

The annual CHRO Awards recognise CHROs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions, and award them for outstanding performance and leadership. Billed as the Oscars of HR, the ceremony will host top CHROs, VIPs and business partners for an exquisite evening of networking, entertainment and fine cuisine.

Chakela has 18 years of people experience. His roles have ranged from tactical delivery, strategic planning, and capability creation to organisational effectiveness advisory. In his words, his personal goal is to become a recognised global authority on optimising organisational effectiveness through people interventions.

He holds an undergraduate degree in social science (clinical and industrial psychology), an honours in human resources, and a postgraduate diploma in organisation and management from the University of Cape Town. Moreover, Themba also holds an MBA through Henley Business School.

He has articulated that this focus for this year includes taking an intentional approach that balances the human capacity for change with the business strategy goals and objectives – without compromising the focus on emotional and mental health. “It’s okay to slow down, find some roses somewhere and smell them. We all aggressively rushed to ‘normalise’ and that comes with the risk of losing ourselves,” he says. “The new normal is an ever-changing one: awareness that not everyone will respond in the same way or is equally ready for it is important.”

The CHRO Awards will be taking place on 14 November 2023. Reserve your seat here.
