The HR director at Weir Minerals Africa and Middle East is the latest addition to the list of nominees.
Tshidi Anya has been nominated for the 2023 CHRO Awards.
She is one the youngest commissioners to be appointed at the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) at the age of 26. She joined the CCMA in 2000 after gaining interest in HR. “I just fell in love with the employer-employee relationship and how it evolves,” she explained at the time, adding that in her position she found purpose in ensuring ethical HR practices after witnessing just how unjust both organisations and employees can be towards each other.
Following her departure from the CCMA, Tshidi worked for a number of organisations including Sasol Synfuels International, Ecolab and British American Tobacco.
Speaking on her career, Tshidi says it has made her what she is today, “Looking back at my career, I appreciate each and every role I said yes to because all these different roles have helped me to become the fully-fledged and well-rounded HR leader I am today.”
After joining Weir in 2021, she said her priorities included implementing the global HR management system Workday, a process for which they are already in the second phase, and employee wellbeing, which is something that is close to her heart.
She has a master’s in management, business and executive coaching, a postgraduate diploma in business study from GIBS Business School and is currently studying to complete her doctorate. She is also a John Maxwell certified coach, trainer and speaker.
The annual CHRO Awards recognise CHROs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions and award them for outstanding performance and leadership. Billed as the Oscars of HR, the ceremony will host top CHROs, VIPs and business partners for an exquisite evening of networking, entertainment and fine cuisine.
