Tswelo Kodisang joins FirstRand as group chief people officer

Tswelo has more than 25 years’ experience in building dynamic people functions.

Tswelo Kodisang has joined the FirstRand Group as the group chief people officer, effective 1 September, succeeding Caryn Baird. 

Tswelo is a commercially driven, international HR leader with more than 25 years’ experience in building dynamic people functions. He has operated as a business partner and trusted advisor across Africa, the Middle East, Turkey, Israel and the UK for large FMCG companies. 

Prior to joining FirstRand, Tswelo was Discovery’s group chief people officer and before that he was Tiger Brands’ CHRO. He has also worked as vice president: global functions (finance, HR & legal) at Unilever. In 2020, while still with Discovery, he won the CHRO of the Year Award. 

Tswelo serves as a member of the Global CHRO Round Table, Global SAP Success Factors Advisory Board, the St Mary’s School Board and St Stithian’s College Remuneration Committee.
