Gold Fields promotes Mariëtte Steyn to lead people and sustainability

Mining giant Gold Fields has promoted Mariëtte Steyn to executive VP for people and sustainability, expanding her leadership scope within the company’s executive team.

Mariëtte previously held the role of executive VP for sustainable development at the company.

Prior to joining Gold Fields, she served in several roles at South32, where she was most recently VP for health and safety culture. Her roles included VP for group risk and assurance, VP for group supply and VP for projects and planning.

Her earlier career includes roles as senior manager for supply and head of health, safety and environment at BHP. She also held general manager positions at Samancor Chrome and AngloGold Ashanti.

Mariëtte holds a bachelor of engineering from Stellenbosch University.
