Get ready for a night of soulful melodies, laughter, and smooth jazz at the 2023 CHRO Awards!

CHRO South Africa is bringing out the big guns this year as it plans to set the stage on fire with top-class entertainment at the 2023 CHRO Awards, taking place on 14 November at the Polo Room in Inanda, Johannesburg.

Award winning South African acapella group The Soil is made up of rhythmically flawless beatboxer Luphindo Ngxanga, singer-songwriter Ntsika Fana Ngxanga and new edition lead singer Theo Matshoba. Theo recently replaced the group’s founding member Buhlendalo Mda.

Known for their rhythmic sound, The Soil will fuse their voices to deliver melodic and harmonious messages that uplift and heal souls worldwide

“Our magic sauce is in the spirituality element of it all, us praying before we ascend the stage and the understanding that we carry more than just music, we literally heal through music,” says Ntsika.

The trio promises to deliver a memorable performance, one filled with a few surprises as well.

“We will also debut new songs. The audience is definitely in for a treat. We know that the awards are billed as ‘the Oscars of HR’, so we are most excited about the elegance of the evening, the top-tier fashion element that the audience will indulge us with and of course give an incredible classy performance that will pair well with the evening.”

Jazzin’ it up

The Kopano Jazz Collective is an innovative, driven and professional band made up of jazz musicians of an extremely high calibre.

The collective includes saxophonist and M.D Godfrey Mntambo, bassist and M.D Angus Hardcastle, the exceptionally talented pianist Josh Mokoena and equally exceptional drummers Enoch Marutha and Nicholas Bjorkman. They all have a BMus and are able to play a wide array of jazz, RnB, soul, pop, hip hop and other genres.

Not a joke

Award-winning comedian and TV personality Nina Hastie will be the MC for the evening. Described as a powerful individual with the courage of intentional public vulnerability – and about as authentic as they come – Nina will keep executives on the edge of their seat with her witty jokes and charming personality.

“With Nina, what you see is what you get. And what you get is a class act, with 20 years of experience under her belt. She is comfortable in any room and on any stage. She’s performed for presidents and CEOs, in boardrooms and bars. If she had a dime for every person who told her that their granny loves her – she’d have lots of dimes,” said her management.

The awards ceremony is where CHROs of listed companies, large corporations and state-owned entities are recognised for their work in the industry. The executives will be hosted to an exquisite evening of networking, entertainment and fine cuisine.
