Sponsored by TalentSmith Technology, the webinar will include a presentation from Robbie Williamson, EMEA Relationship Manager at Enboarder who, throughout the Covid-19 crisis, has been working closely with some of the world’s top employers in adapting their onboarding programs for the ‘new normal’.

Onboarding new employees when everyone is working remotely has been a big challenge for many organisations, while welcoming new hires company and setting them up for success has never been more important. HR teams are now faced with the task of planning for 2021 and beyond, wanting to predict, anticipate and plan for the big challenges that Covid-19 will continue to throw at them.

Robbie has seen first-hand what works and what doesn’t. He can share with confidence that the new environment doesn’t prevent the ability to knock new hires' socks off with onboarding processes.

Among the lessons Robbie will be sharing is how to personalise the onboarding experience to wow candidates.

“Personalisation is about making the new hire feel like their expertise, preferences and interests have been taken into account in almost every aspect of their onboarding,” says Robbie.

Another important aspect is to facilitate human connection during the onboarding journey.

“Traditionally on an employee’s first day, they would be shown around the office and introduced to their coworkers and new team members. Establishing these connections is an integral part of the onboarding process and should not be forgotten just because there’s no physical office tour.”  

Robbie says creating a unique initiation ritual can also have a critical impact on both the new team member and the original team members because studies and theories in this area give support to the idea that teams that have had strong initiation rituals feel greater group identity and a stronger sense of belonging to the team.

"You can have welcome breakfast/drinks with the whole team, a Friday welcome party, Wednesday welcome doughnuts, first-day hello tours…the ideas are endless.”
