The Return2Work Initiative and Solidarity Fund have collaborated to release workplace safety videos.

The Return2Work initiative has partnered with the Solidarity Fund to deliver a range of back-to-work safety videos as thousands of South Africans return to the workplace after the festive season.

The videos cover a range of key messages on workplace safety such as the proper use of masks, maintaining physical distancing and sneezing into one’s elbow. The content outlines the importance of following workplace protocols in terms of daily screening, offers tips on travelling safely on public transport to and from work, how to socialise safely outside of work, as well as when and how one should self-isolate.

The six educational videos are available for use and distribution by any business, union, employee or member of the public and are available in isiZulu, isiXhosa and seSotho with English subtitles. They can be accessed from the Return2Work website for free.

In a statement Return2Work and the Solidarity Fund said, “With the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic sweeping through the country, every effort must be made to limit transmission. Safety at work is paramount to ensure the wellbeing of employees and their families, as well as business productivity. Minimising the impact of the second wave in workplaces requires that employers across the public and private sectors, together with unions, take the lead in working together to get the ‘safe back to work’ message out.”

The videos supplement a range of educational resources launched by Return2Work on workplace safety at the end of 2020.

The educational materials can be distributed through email, WhatsApp and social media platforms.
