Sanjana Joshua joins FirstRand Group as group head of talent


The seasoned HR executive brings 18 years of experience to the role.

JSE-listed financial services provider FirstRand Group has appointed Sanjana Joshua as its group head of talent.

Sanjana takes the reins fresh from Old Mutual, where she was the human capital executive for group talent and learning. Prior to joining Old Mutual, she was a people director at ABInBev and held senior HR roles at other multinationals such as South African Breweries and Standard Bank.

She is a qualified psychologist with a masters degree in counselling psychology, and has completed a global executive program on strategy and business with the London Business School.

Sanjana says she is most passionate about leadership development, talent and organisational effectiveness strategies, coaching and leveraging talent for the future of businesses. “I thrive on on designing and implementing integrated people strategies in complex organisations.”

Sanjana will play a key role in realising the FirstRand focus of attracting, developing and retaining deeply invested employees who contribute towards a future of shared prosperity for the group. “I am excited about joining the FirstRand team as my passion for creating innovative solutions and my purpose to make a meaningful contribution to people development within Africa and key global markets can be realised in this role,” she adds.

Outside of work, Sanjana has a passion for travel and immersing herself in new experiences, and is stimulated by reading about new subjects, hearing alternative viewpoints to her own and understanding different cultures. She is also passionate about living purposefully.
