Arjo, a global supplier of medical devices and solutions, has appointed Shivani Naidoo as its new HR director in Africa, a move that marks the continuation of a journey rooted in healthcare and human impact.
Shivani is set to lead Arjo’s HR strategy across Africa, ensuring that people practices support improved healthcare outcomes.
“If you look at my career path, most of it has been spent in healthcare,” she says. “I had the privilege of growing within a research-driven pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim, in the role of HR business partner. During this time, I was seconded to a short-term regional role in Dubai within their talent and development department.”
“I later moved into the role of chief of staff at a clinical research NGO based in Soshanguve, which conducted community-based clinical research trials focused on HIV/Aids, tuberculosis and maternal and paediatric health.”
These experiences solidified her belief in purpose-led work and she is determined to shape strategy and make an even more tangible impact in a sector she feels deeply connected to.
“I am a strong believer in aligning one’s work with personal values and passion. When I came across the job advertisement for a position at Arjo, a company committed to improving health outcomes for individuals facing mobility challenges in both the public and private sectors across Africa, it deeply resonated with my purpose to contribute meaningfully and equitably to as many lives as possible, and brought together my experience in operating in both a global private and local business.”
In her new role, Shivani says she aspires to continue serving and empowering people and internal customers so they in turn can drive the business forward.
“I look forward to establishing efficient and effective HR processes that align with the organisational strategy, enabling both people and business growth. Ultimately, this will contribute to improving healthcare outcomes across Africa.”
