The winner of the R5,000 cash prize at the HR Indaba Online says she had loads of fun at the event.

On 7 June, CHRO South Africa hosted its Indaba Online with an online conference and virtual expo experience. Thousands of HR professionals from across South Africa and Africa had the chance to attend insightful impact sessions with world-class speakers, interact with virtual partner stands, and network with their finance peers in online chatrooms.

Attendees had a chance to win a R5,000 cash prize for their engagement in the various sessions. The lucky winner was Jolandie Overbury, Nedbank’s manager: talent assessments. Jolandie was chosen for having attended most sessions and for being the most engaged attendee.

Jolandie says about winning: “A huge thank you for this very gracious gift. This is a gift more than a prize for me as I enjoyed engaging with so many participants attending the indaba.”

She says she has not yet made any plans on what to spend her prize on, but she believes it will contribute greatly to her next learning course or workshop.

“I just want to highlight how great I thought the initiative was to host an online HR Indaba, with amazing panellists discussing current hot topics in our field, for free.

“The panel discussions I attended were very thought-provoking and the online engagement with the attendees was great for sharing thoughts and questions. And the hosts of each session were great with navigating the conversation and bringing the voice of the attendees into the conversation,” says Jolandie.

She was also blown away by the Pitch Fest – a first and a huge success for the HR Indaba. “The Pitch Fest sessions were fantastic and I believe these sessions should form part of face-to-face conferences too. It was a day well spent.”
