On 9 April, Cape Town will play host to the second summit of the year, and it's set to take diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) conversations to the next level.
Themed The Radical Inclusion Summit, this event promises to dig deeper into how organisations can move beyond surface-level diversity initiatives and truly embed DEIB into their core values. The Radical Inclusion Summit is where HR leaders come to do just that - explore, challenge, and redefine what real inclusion looks like in action.
Before jumping into a deep dive and interactive forum on the future of DEIB in a Trump 2.0 world led by DEIB expert Roy Gluckman, the evening will kick off with networking and drinks, giving attendees a chance to catch up with like-minded professionals and exchange ideas.
Speaking about the prioritisation of equality, diversity, and inclusion in a previous interview with CHRO South Africa, Roy said, “The anxiety, the anger, the fear, the voicelessness, the urgency, the pressure... remember these emotions. The work of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) has not become important all of a sudden. It has always been important. Yet, we deprioritise it. Why? Well, for those of us who hold privileged positions, it just doesn't seem that urgent. And this is where the tension lies.”
“The status quo is cushy for some and untenable for others, and this tension must be resolved. But this isn’t new. So it’s important that we remember these emotions when, in a few months, we have slipped back into the ‘new normal’ with EDI on the back backburner or relegated to a discussion on ‘the numbers’.”
Anusuya Govender, CPO at Old Mutual, and Nishen Munnisunker, CEO of Regenesys Corporate Education, will take the stage for a fireside chat. This conversation promises to be both insightful and inspiring as they share how companies can truly walk the talk when it comes to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The event will heat up with a panel discussion on measuring the impact of DEIB using metrics that matter. Featuring Sandiso Gcwabe, CFO at Wesgro, Andrew Milson, sustainability and people director at Food Lover's Market, and Reabetswe Motshegare, HR director at Scatec ASA, the panel will explore how HR leaders can move beyond fluffy metrics and truly measure the lasting impact of DEIB efforts within their organisations.
And of course, networking, drinks, and canapés will be available, giving attendees the chance to relax, mingle, and continue the discussions with fellow peers.
