Formfunc Studio has joined the growing list of partners returning for the second instalment  of CHRO SA’s annual HR Indaba Africa event, which will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre on 16 & 17 October 2019. Formfunc are the exclusive Southern Africa representative for an ergonomics brand called Humanscale. Their focus is on the health, wellness and productivity of employees who spend most of the day working on a computer, whether it is a laptop or a desktop. Humanscale has a series of products that are manufactured locally by Formfunc who also have a consulting element to the business. In addition, they have two of the few Masters qualified ergonomists in the country who can complete risk assessments at user’s workstations and provide reports and recommendations on what can be done to improve the comfort and productivity of those individuals.

Formfunc director Kim Kowalski says South African organisations are becoming more aware of productivity and wellness issues related to bad posture and that the demand for this type of service is likely to grow significantly.

“In 2017 the Department of Labour issued draft legislation out for public comment on Ergonomics in the Workplace, which spoke about punitive actions against non-compliant companies and CEOs,” says Kim.  “One of the challenges SA will face with this legislation is that we, unfortunately, do not have enough qualified Ergonomists to assist in facilitating the draft legislation. Formfunc has two such qualified Ergonomists is a very limited pool in South Africa so we’ll be well placed in this market should the legislation come to fruition.”

Formfunc is delighted with the opportunity to again exhbit at the HR Indaba because it’s an event gives them a new strategic focus as it allows them to to educate corporate and institutional influencers about the wellness benefits of good posture.

“Human Resources departments are the Wellness champions within their companies and they are most likely to listen to our message of how an ergonomic investment will affect their staff wellness and productivity. We’re looking forward to meeting these influencers at the Indaba,” says Kim.

As a partner, Formfunc will have an exhibition stand at the HR Indaba, which will be the largest of its kind in South Africa. It will give HR professionals an opportunity to learn everything they need to know about the latest HR technology, HR strategy, company culture, labour laws, recruitment, employee engagement and HR leadership. It will also bring together thousands of colleagues, suppliers, platforms, universities, specialists, recruitment agencies, CHROs and thought leaders.
