Lesson Desk's Belinda Tanner says the Indaba was a perfect opportunity for the company.

With over 3,000 attendees, close to 50 exhibitors, and numerous knowledge sharing sessions, the inaugural HR Indaba was arguably a resounding success. In this article, we will reflect on what was an amazing event by speaking to Lesson Desk’s Belinda Tanner about her experience as an exhibitor at the Indaba.

What is Lesson Desk?

"Lesson Desk is an end-to-end e-learning solution designed to make it easy for organisations to transfer knowledge to their employees in a fun, engaging and interactive format. With Lesson Desk, companies are able to empower their staff by training employees in both group and individual formats and inspiring growth through monitored career paths. We have a learning management system and a training platform, which enables companies to take their training into their own hands as opposed to outsourcing and moving from relying on facilitator-heavy training to online training."

What is the value add for your clients?

"It's definitely cost saving. Companies don't have to fly facilitators around the country to different branches to do training. They also don't have to outsource to training providers who charge a lot of money. With Lesson Desk, companies have their own platform, create their own content and manage it completely in-house. We also enable organisations to create career pathways, whereby companies can use our software for succession planning.

“We also have a hardware component, which companies can use for group training for which people receive individual marks. Our Power Bar solution makes it possible to turn any screen into a fully functional interactive training station where people receive remotes, which we call 'markers', that are used to submit answers of questions displayed on the screen based on the organisation's training content. The benefit is that companies can run their own courses and mark people very quickly with no paperwork, printing, or writing involved in the process."

Why did Lesson Desk sign up for the HR Indaba and what did you think of the event?

"We went to the HR Indaba because it is the perfect place for a company like ours to seek out business opportunities. We work in training and development and that's a big part of what HR professionals do so signing was a no-brainer, really.

“We enjoyed it a lot. It was a very cool event. We met a lot of interesting people and have been very successful in terms of getting contacts and leads.  There are some HR professionals who are perhaps only here because its an excuse to get out of the office but the majority of those we’ve spoken to have been quite interested in listening to what we have to offer. We will definitely be going big for the event next year.”
