The company has created an innovative service offering called YES123 to help companies implement YES programmes.

With over 3,000 attendees, close to 50 exhibitors and numerous knowledge-sharing sessions, the inaugural HR Indaba was arguably a resounding success. In this article, Saul Symanowitz, MD of Sage BEE 123, shares more about their offering.

1  Tell us about more about SAGE BEE123 and its offering.

The BEE123 B-BBEE management software system provides a revolutionary and cutting-edge solution to B-BBEE compliance, ensuring that B-BBEE is easy to understand, plan, manage and implement whilst facilitating strategic and meaningful transformation.  As the market-leader in the space, BEE123 is utilised by hundreds of SA’s leading organisations from multinationals, JSE listed entities to family-owned businesses.

Our turnkey solution inlcudes market-leading B-BBEE scorecard software, an advanced B-BBEE supplier management & directory, B-BBEE advisory, consulting & strategy sessions, implementation, and software training

BEE123 offers a complete range of software tools, directories, information, training interventions, advisory services, YES implementation as well as enterprise and supplier development (ESD) solutions. We have also recently concluded an empowerment transaction and are now a 56 percent black-owned level 2 entity.

2  Why is a platform like yours so useful for helping companies manage their B-BBEE scorecards?

Organisations are under immense pressure to achieve a positive BEE scorecard, which will allow them to be competitive in the marketplace.  When procuring goods, most state-owned entities and large organisations are demanding that their suppliers achieve good overall ratings and, when applying for licences and concessions, they need to show they are aligned with B-BBEE imperatives. This poses some serious challenges for companies who did not begin the process of transforming their businesses.

The codes are massively complex. Companies have targets and weighting points across five different pillars and what our platform does is it allows companies to simply input data relating to each of the elements and calculates their BEE scores for them.

3  Why have you signed up for the HR Indaba?

One of the HR pillars is called Management Control, which along with the Skills Development pillar has become particularly more complex with introduction of EAP targets, now requiring points and targets to be segmented across six different race sub-groups. The BEE123 system simplifies this. For example, companies can calculate their score within that element by simply recording their employee workforce demographics into the system. It will then calculate how many points they are scoring, where they are lacking, and they can run scenarios to assess ways to improve the score. So they'll be able to tell in advance what the impact on the scorecard will be for hiring this or that person.  That is why a platform like ours becomes so useful.

We also offer innovative solutions to assist clients with the strategic implementation of their Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD). BEE123 ESD Solutions provides emerging businesses with the necessary tools and fundamental skills that they need in order to run professional, successful and sustainable businesses.

We recognize the critical role the youth play in shaping our economy and the future of our country. Yet six-million young people remain unemployed. The YES initiative has been introduced to help solve this challenge, whilst adding a boost to your B-BBEE scorecard. This is why BEE123 has created an innovative service offering called YES123 - Your trusted YES implementation partner! YES123 assists companies with the facilitation, administration and management of their YES Programs.
