post-title

They will be showcasing game-changing technology for meaningful talent acquisition and retention.

Over 5000 people and close to a hundred exhibitors are registered for HR Indaba Africa 2019, which means it is going to bigger and better than the inaugural conference. With a week to go before the biggest gathering of HR professionals in Africa, Talent Smith Chief Business Officer Roland Glass explains why they are looking forward to the event.

What does Talent Smith do?

TalentSmith Technology is part of the TalentSmith brand, is about improving recruitment performance, enhancing candidate journeys, uplifting employees, and revolutionising onboarding. We know that the right tech-enabled solutions can change the game when it comes to meaningful talent acquisition and retention – by creating closeness, not distance. So we’ve partnered with a network of cutting-edge organisations to offer Employee engagement, candidate experience solutions, video recruitment, and personalised onboarding.

What was the motivation for starting the company?

As part of the VentureWeb Group, we have spent the last 20 years supporting organisations in over 30 countries. Specifically, we've become a leader in international recruitment, staffing and managed service programmes across the US, the UK, Canada, India and South Africa.

As such, we’ve had first-hand experience of the inefficiencies in recruitment, onboarding, candidate experience and employee engagement, which is why we established TalentSmith. We believe talent tech can change how companies engage exceptional people, for the better.

How do you differentiate yourselves from competitors in your space?

Unlike others out there, TalentSmith uses technology to create human-centred experiences for both employers and candidates. In a nutshell, we super-charge talent acquisition by leveraging engagement and technology to make attraction, hiring and onboarding personal again.

Why have you signed up for the HR Indaba and what should attendees look forward to seeing from you at the event?

The HR Indaba presents an opportunity for TalentSmith to showcase our cutting-edge solutions – courtesy of the best in international HR tech – and to engage with fellow industry leaders and pioneers. This is important because our driving force is the need to transform the local talent acquisition professional into a strategic business partner.

What would you say is the biggest challenge facing HR professionals?

One of the greatest challenges facing HR professionals is the increasing disparity between the value that we place on our customer journeys and the value that we place on candidate and employee experiences. The talent that is needed for an organisation to out-perform its competitors will reject it outright if the experience isn’t consumerised. So, it's not about processes and box-ticking anymore.

The experience that is designed by HR professionals must be human-centred and tech-enabled, with an increasing focus on digital, mobile-first platforms, self service, employer branding, social collaboration, social media, and participation in the sharing economy.
