The company explains that sponsorship is its way of honouring the important work CHROs are doing.
Mercer has returned as a sponsor for the 2023 Young CHRO of the Year Award. Tamara Parker, CEO South Africa of Mercer says the sponsorship is the firm’s way of honouring the vital work that CHROs do in the country.
“We appreciate the CHROs in our community because they are doing amazing work with regards to growing, training and developing talent in our country. Mercer also works with HR communities to make sure that people in businesses are able to develop and excel.”
As the sponsor for the Young CHRO of the Year Award, Tamara says Mercer envisions a young CHRO being someone who is driven by purpose, passionate, keeps up with the current trends and best business practices, and has a vision for the future. “It is also someone that is able to influence the C-suites and the business to make changes that are appropriate for people in their business and is simultaneously able to stay close to their people.”
Tamara adds that the awards are a culmination of collaboration and effort that take place behind the scenes. “As a global organisation, with lots of excellent research and surveys, we are able to provide expertise and leading practice and help to build a great CHRO community in South Africa through our collaboration with CHRO South Africa.”
The annual CHRO Awards will be held on 14 November at the Polo Room in Inanda, Johannesburg, where CHROs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions will be recognised for their work in the industry. Billed as the Oscars of HR, the ceremony will host top CHROs, VIPs and business partners for an exquisite evening of networking, entertainment and fine cuisine.
