Romain joins the global online classifieds business OLX Group from Airbnb, and previously Amazon.
Naspers subsidiary of Prosus, one of the largest technology investors in the world, last week announced Romain Voog as CEO of OLX Group, starting his position on 1 April.
OLX, Prosus’s online classifieds business employing a global workforce of 10,000, contributes five percent to overall revenues and is the biggest among an array of businesses such as payments and fintech, food delivery, and education technology.
Romain was previously the vice president for worldwide sales operations and geographies at Airbnb, and prior to that was the president of Amazon's operations in France. He is taking over from Martin Scheepbouwer, who led OLX Group for nine years, the company said.
“His (Voog's) experience inside customer-centric organisations such as Amazon and Airbnb will be an asset to OLX Group as we drive customer-centric innovation in the world of classifieds," said Bob van Dijk, CEO of Prosus and Naspers, to Reuters.
Roman said, “I’m excited to join OLX Group and to lead a passionate team that is innovating on behalf of our hundreds of millions of
buyers and sellers across our geographies.
“With its leading brands, innovative platforms, entrepreneurial teams, and the backing of one of the world’s top consumer internet groups, I believe OLX Group is uniquely positioned to benefit from the massive and growing online trade opportunities and shift in consumer habits.”
