SMEC's Tumelo Molope to speak at inaugural HR Indaba

Tumelo is responsible for the engineering firm's HR strategy across all regional offices in Africa

SMEC's HR Division Leader for Africa Tumelo Molope has been confirmed as a speaker for the inaugural HR Indaba, which will be taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre on 3 & 4 October 2018. The HR Indaba will be the largest of its kind in South Africa, giving HR professionals an opportunity to learn everything they need to know about the latest HR technology, HR strategy, company culture, labour laws, recruitment, employee engagement and HR leadership. It will also bring together thousands of colleagues, suppliers, platforms, universities, specialists, recruitment agencies, CHROs and thought leaders.

Tumelo is responsible for HR strategy across all regional offices within the engineering company's Africa Division. Having begun her career in the financial services and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) consulting fields, she later became HR professional, working for companies such as Sasol and Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys in the areas of diversity and inclusion, organisational development, transformation, and talent management.

Prior to joining SMEC South Africa, Molope worked on some major projects both as an HR professional and as a B-BBEE consultant. In her capacity as HR Change Manager, she was project manager on Bowman Gilfillan’s strategic growth in Africa project. As a B-BBEE consultant, she helped define and implement B-BBEE strategies for BASF, the Sugar Association of South Africa and Tsebo Outsourcing Group. She has also worked on some Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects with Group 5 and Nedbank, providing B-BBEE advisory services.
