Eskom’s new people chief, Dr Candice Hartley, says it is a great honour to join the utility's giant in navigating the complexities of the energy sector and striving towards a sustainable future.
Dr Candice Hartley has been named the chief people officer for Eskom Holdings.
Candice, who was the 2021 Young CHRO of the Year and winner of the Learning & Development Award, moves from KPMG, where she was an executive partner and the head of human capital.
A seasoned HR executive with two decades of experience spanning the financial, industrial, information technology and consumer goods sectors, her key focus will be to ensure Eskom has the skills to operate in a competitive marketplace. She will be responsible for transitioning the organisation’s human capital practices and workforce to align with this strategy, as well as ensuring the wider adoption of technology at the energy giant.
Candice holds an MBA and postgraduate diploma in business administration from the University of Pretoria, as well as a BA in psychology and a BA (Hons) from the University of Johannesburg. She completed her PhD within the faculty of commerce at the University of Cape Town in 2023.
Prior to joining KPMG in 2024, Candice was at AECI. She was also at British American Tobacco where she started as head of talent and organisational excellence, before taking on the role of human resources director. She was previously the human resources director at Pernod Ricard, which she joined after serving as human resources business partner for Africa at Lenovo.
She has furthermore held HR roles at Barloworld Standard Bank and South African Breweries.
